Summary: A Balloon Sports Game played like Baseball
Ages: 10 and up
Recommended Number of Players/Teams:
Each team has 4 players
As many teams as can be divided into four
Equipment:
Several balloons
Whistle to begin game
Set Up:
This game uses only the in-field in a baseball field. You can use any field as long as you supply the bases.
How to Play:
When the whistle blows, the players on home plate must blow up a balloon, tie it off,and keep the balloon in the air by using only their bodies…HANDS must be behind their backs the whole time. It does not matter if the balloon touches the ground.
When the first runner gets to first base, the team member standing on first base must take the balloon to second base in the same manner. Play continues from second base to third base and from third base to home. The player who ends up at home plate with the balloon has to pop the balloon by sitting on it. This complete round is called an “inning.”
Then the player that started on third base, but is now at home plate, gets another balloon, blows it up, and runs to first base where the team member who previously started at home plate is waiting for the trade off.
ALL teams are playing at the same time!
If the balloon pops anywhere besides home plate, runners must retreat to the beginning of the “inning” in which they find themselves and begin the “inning” again from home plate.
Winner: The team that completes four “innings”, having each team member be able to sit on the balloon at home plate and pop it, wins.
